Video

Video

The task was to go out and take short clips of anything, after I taken loads of different short footage of things, It was back to the studio and from there we had to produce a short length film using the footage on the software Premiere Pro to piece and edit it altogether. I found this rather difficult as I only took clips of random things, the was no subject so I had to try find one amongst all the videos I had recorded, very hard to keep an interest when it hasn't got a true subject matter and a final outcome, to keep you engaged but overall am pleased on how it planned out.

Development

I started to try and make a short film out of the footage I had, but at first I made a very long and pointless film, it had no subject and was very boring I was trying to combine a lot of my recorded footage, but it wasn't presented very good or wasn't entertaining. But the majority of the film was a multiple clips of waves, and I liked a few clips I had of waves that was taken when the tide was in and waves were big and rough, so I solely stuck with them clips to combine together for my video.

Long no subject movies.

Rough waves movie.

I thought the movie was very basic, to make it more entertaining I attempted to edit it even better  together to do this I added in an opening scene and end credits, also included audio within the film. In certain parts I made blank and left the audio play to capture imagination too. But was much better than a big collection of different footage just put together like the first one I created.

Screenshots

Here are the effects available, I used three of them: Cross Dissolve, Dip to Black and Film Dissolve within my film, these effects are used by dragging over the effect to the overlaid of video layers. This helps the video continue into the next clip without a sharp change over.

example of the effects in use.

The pink colours represent still images. To make my movie more entertaining I added in an opening title and end credits.

After completing my video and was happy with it visually, I had to make adjustments to the audio. I downloaded a sound track of ocean waves, and placed it over the videos and muted the real audio that came with my own footage. The reason I downloaded a different audio the real audio that was with the video clips, a lot of them were not there anymore. However a certain clip I have is where the sea splashes up and over the wall, I used the real audio for this clip so can hear the sound of it hitting the floor. To do this I had to edit the part it plays and turn down the current audio that plays all the way through so the real audio can be heard. I start the soundtrack before you can visually see the waves to help audience visualise it before visually seeing it first, and have it still playing during end credits and even after.

Final Film

I think it worked well considering my footage I had, the way the editing has been done makes it a lot more interesting and work better than if was alone. More than likely would be a better improvement if had a storyboard and better thought process of what the film would be about to then collect better footage too. But a good attempted on my behalf I believe.
